Chiropractic
Chiropractic involves the diagnosis, treatment, management and prevention of a range of musculoskeletal disorders. These disorders can often have an effect on the nervous system, preventing the proper flow of communication from our brain to our body, restricting optimal and efficient function.
The nervous system plays a fundamental part in the function and coordination of our body. If our nervous system is functioning poorly, it can result in dysfunctional movement patterns, causing aches and pains.
We often find that early prevention of these dysfunctions through treatment is much better than finding a cure once the problem has developed.
Soft Tissue Therapy
Soft tissue therapy compliments chiropractic care perfectly which is why we incorporate this with all our treatments. We find this is the best approach to providing long-lasting results to help you get out of pain and quickly return to doing what you love.
This therapy has many benefits such as:
- Reducing pain
- Relieving tissue tension
- Flushing out toxins
- Increasing healthy blood flow
- Improving range of motion
Dry Needling
Dry needling focuses on pain relief, muscle relaxation and function restoration of the targeted tissue.
It utilises fine needles (acupuncture needles) to help stimulate and release myofascial trigger points (hyper-irritable tight nodules in areas of tissue).
Myofascial trigger points occur when areas of a tissue are "stuck" in a short, tightened position and are unable to get back into its relaxed lengthened state. This results in the tissue being unable to move and function normally as well as obtain health blood nutrients or flush out toxins.
Exercise Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation exercises, whether its goal is to improve strength, mobility, tolerance to load, proprioception and balance or improve movement efficiency, is vital in re-educating surrounding muscles and tissues.
Once these goals are met, prehabilitation exercises are given to help prevent future injuries from occurring.
Exercise rehabilitation and prehabilitation help establish a stronger connection between our nervous system and our bodies which also improves the effectiveness of chiropractic treatment.
At Move Chiropractic, we strongly believe that being PRO-active is much better than being RE-active when it comes to injuries.
Postural Analysis
Good posture plays an important role in staying pain-free. When you are in a good postural position, it allows the involved muscles to evenly distribute its workload. Poor posture may result in pain and injuries as different muscles and structures end up overworking to compensate for the uneven load.
The first step to fixing posture is having awareness and knowing how to change postural positions. We will guide you through this process with simple cues.
Although having great posture is important, it is much more important to keep our bodies moving. You may be thinking, why do I still feel aches even when I sit up tall at the computer? That is because our muscles and joints don't like being stuck in one position. Our joints like to stay lubricated through movement and muscles love to stretch and contract.
